The Scope: 7 Days Decommission to Live Production
Moving a mixed-machine cell of heavy multi-axis turning centres and vertical mills requires careful planning, specialised transport, and rigorous geometric recommissioning.
Our engineering team executed a complete 5-step turnkey package:
Decommissioning - Powering down, draining coolant, detaching LNS bar feeders, chip conveyors, and external ancillaries across both the Nakamura-Tome and Haas assets.
Heavy Lifting & Loading - Utilising specialised rigging equipment, skate sets, and Versa-Lift heavy-duty forklifts to safely extract the machinery and load them onto curtain-side transport.
Transport & Transit - Securely chaining, skidding, and transporting the multi-tonne machinery across sites.
Offloading & Positioning - Navigating tight access gangways at the destination facility to skid and manoeuvre each unit into its new cell layout.
Recommissioning & Precision Alignment - Re-connecting power, levelling, re-anchoring, and performing geometric DTI checks to guarantee OEM-level precision.
Delivering Results Under Pressure
Completing a complex multi-machine move in 7 days demands total technical control. Every stage was synchronised to ensure that as soon as a machine hit the shop floor at the new facility, our engineers were immediately on-hand to level, power up, and run test cuts.
By day 7, the cell was fully operational. In fact, our customer was already back to producing live production parts on-site in front of their visiting end-customer, who was thoroughly impressed by the rapid, seamless transition.
